Each Tuesday we will share a photo we received claiming to be the World's Largest Dog. A lot of you might have seen these photos. We couldn't verify the source so we leave it up to you to believe it or not. Photoshop can make look anything big. Let us know what you think. Have you seen any of these dogs in person? Do you have a photo that you want to share with us?
6) The Largest Caucasian Mountain Dog:
Come on?!!! Is it really a question whether this photo is fake or not?! FAKE
Yes, Caucasian Mountain Dogs are big and the size of their heads can be huge. And they can be just as dangerous for intruders as their size suggests. Take my advise and do not ever try to go close to a
Caucasian Mountain Dog unless the owner is present.
According to the breed standard they weight 45-72kg. I believe you can easily find CMDs close to 90kg.

Man it's hot. Let's take the feet for a walk!
So how does your dog sweat? All that hair surely doesn't allow sweat glands to function does it? And no! They don't sweat through their tongue either.
It turns out, that dogs sweat from the pads of their feet, as it is one of the only places not covered by fur.
However, it IS true that dogs cool off by panting. It's just that they don't sweat from their tongues.

5) The Largest Irish Wolfhound:
This week's featured largest dog is an Irish Wolfhound again - just like
last week. Again, I have a feeling that this photo is real and the photographer picked a very good angle, which makes the dogs look larger. The dogs are in front of the camera while the little old lady sits on the couch in the background as a comparison.

As an estimate of how much people love their dogs, over 1 million of them are slated to inherit all their master's wealth when their owners pass on!
After all, they're family right?

4) The Largest Irish Wolfhound:
This week our featured Largest Dog in the world is an
Irish Wolfhound. Guess what?! I am sure this photo is not fake and shows the actual size of the dog. Although, I must admit that the photographer did a very good job to make it look bigger than it is. There is one thing we cannot be sure though! Is it really the largest dog in the world??? Hard to tell... probably not but it does look huge!
Many people falsely believe that the largest breed in the world is the Great Dane (height: 30-34 inches or 76-86 cm). While, Great Danes are called the
King of All Dog Breeds they are not as tall as the Irish Wolfhounds (height: 28-35 inches or 71-90 cm). The two breeds are very similar in size but in average, Irish Wolfhounds are larger.

3) The Largest Neapolitan Mastiff:
This is a
Neapolitan Mastiff. Without any doubt, this is the worst fake World's Largest Dog Photo I have ever seen. While Neapolitan Mastiff is indeed a large breed and can weight over 200 pounds, they don't grow this big... or if they would they could not walk.

Apparently, over 33% of dog owners give their dogs a call when they are away. An American Animal Hospital Association poll showed that when no one was in the house, they called and spoke to their pooches on the Answering machine!

2) The Largest Boerboel:
This South African Beast looks huge indeed. I am only guessing it is a
Boerboel and I am also guessing... it is fake too! Males are 25-28 inches (64-70 cm.). Females are 23-25.5 inches (59-65 cm.). They are known to have huge heads... but this one or enormous!

In 1978, a law was enacted in New York which stipulated that dog owners must clean up after their dog had done their business on the street.
If the official figures are to be believed, the total amount of dog poop that was deposited on the streets before that was
40 MILLION POUNDS per year! I wonder how they managed before the law.

1) The Largest Great Dane:
It is a harlequin
Great Dane. According to the breed standard Great Danes' shoulder height is between 71-86cm or 28-34 inch. While they are huge and can easily be as high as the woman in the photo, it looks fake. The hind legs are way too long, longer than the back line.
